ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the sessions court to pronounce the judgment on petitions for the suspension of sentence in the Iddat case within 10 days and also on appeals in the same case within 30 days.

IHC Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case.

Imran Khan in his petition moved the IHC to order the sessions court to pronounce the judgment it had reserved earlier in the Iddat case. He also requested the court to hear his appeal in the case.

Former first lady Bushra Bibi also requested the court to order the sessions court to pronounce judgment on her plea, seeking suspension of the sentence in the case.

Salman Akram Raja, lawyer for both Imran and Bushra, remarked he has never in his life seen a judge transferring a case in this manner, adding the sessions judge first heard the case and then transferred it to an additional sessions judge.

“Why was the case transferred to another judge?” the lawyer questioned and requested the IHC to order Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand to pronounce the judgment it had reserved.

It is to be noted here that on May 9, Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumad recused himself from pronouncing the reserved verdict on the appeals of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi against the sentence in the Iddat case.

He also wrote a letter to the IHC to transfer the case to another court. In the letter, he said the appeals of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were fixed for hearing and a verdict on those appeals was to be pronounced that day, but complainant Khawar Maneka expressed no confidence in him.

He said that Khawar Maneka’s plea of no confidence had earlier been disposed of, but after he expressed his no confidence in him again, it would be inappropriate to pronounce the verdict.

“Therefore, the IHC has been requested to transfer the case to another court,” he added.
